It was a cold and snowy evening when three young freshers left campus on route to the Gallery for the annual SCOGUI Christmas Dinner. It was a very long and cold walk in dresses and sandals but well worth it. Everyone made the effort to stick to the smart dress code and we would never have missed our first opportunity to see Gav in trousers!
Since we had sole use of the function room at the gallery we moved the tables around so that everyone could talk to almost everyone else. Unfortunately this meant some people were trapped in, and some fun was had watching people attempt to climb over people or under tables to get to the bar or the toilet!
The food itself was good (see menu below for details) with just the right amount of time between courses for pulling crackers, party poppers and throwing streamers at each other. Dancing followed dinner, with plenty of disputes about what music to play! but we all had fun.
We left the Gallery shortly after closing and went our separate ways. Some to a James Bond theme night at Echos, some to their own homes, and a bunch of us to Ali’s house for coffee. It was a very good night, and I’ve never forgotten to shave my knees since!
