Nom Nom, Shiny things!

Like shiney things? Have your vote towards which colour 2008-2009 hoodies are! =D Voting box at the side.

Slight Disclaimer: While I’m sure committee will look at the results and most possibly likely follow them, in case everyone votes for like bright pink or something unfeasible, the majority of the poll may not be followed. This vote is just for fun more than anything.

Progressive Supper 2009

On the evening of Saturday 23rd May, 19 beautifully dressed SCOGUI members supper-ed in a progressive fashion – enjoying an expertly cooked course at one of four houses before progressing to the next. The starter, served at Gaz’s house, was a choice between melon and prawn cocktail with much bread available. A short trip down the road took SCOGUI to Megan and Nicole’s house for a very tasty main with choices between beef or vegetable lasagne and lamb moussaka. The group then proceeded on to Lisa’s house for tiramisu cheesecake and ice cream for desert. The suppering part of the evening concluded at Tom and Kate’s house for biscuits and cheese along with a selection of hot drinks. The excellent cheese was provided by Will and family. A fair amount of SCOGUI then proceeded to Loughborough’s both best and worst night club – Echos – where they danced away till the wee hours.

Thanks go to Megan and Nicole for organising the evening, and to those who hosted a course.

May Camp 2009!

The 15th to 17th of May around 20 SCOGUI members ascended upon the Oaks Campsite to lend a hand at the Forest District’s Annual May camp, which this year hosted a party theme! Around 60 Brownies attended the camp – with each SCOGUI member being responsible for a tent of 5-6 of them. The camp was also attended by Forest District Guides – who mainly took care of themselves – and by a bunch of Rainbows as day visitors on Saturday.

Camping Barn – “Rave, Rave – Check the bacon!”

SCOGUI @ Camping Barn 2009A group of 13 SCOGUI members headed over to Drum Hill Campsite, Derby, for a fun filled weekend of camping in a barn (or well equipped hut!) … with one person choosing to sleep in a badly pitched tent (thanks to Lisa’s tent skills).

Weekend activities included abseiling expertly led by qualified instructor Jamie Shirra, some rather competitive attempts at the low-ropes-course and assault course and a night hike around the countryside.

SCOGUI were certainly very well fed over the weekend, thanks to the culinary and raving expertise of Mark Harrop. Overall it was a very enjoyable and value for money weekend! Extended thanks to James Shirra and Mark Harrop for arranging camping barn 2009!

Scogui Does freefest!

SCOGUI @ Freefest 2009

Scogui congregated together at Loughborough FreeFest over May Bank holiday weekend (3rd and 4th of May). There was some great music, on a total of three stages, from local bands. The sun was (mostly) out in all its glory on Sunday, though Monday was grey and somewhat drizzly throughout. It was an awesome and fun weekend!
