AGM minutes 21.02.2012

from relative novices to experienced climbers, everyone tried out the walls, belaying, and posing for photos (Rob was having fun with his camera!)

Now I hope everyone has their dinner jackets and dresses ready, as Annual Dinner is this weekend! That means it is time to suit up, get fancy, and have fun with SCOGUI old and new!

Some went for a unique taste, and some for appealing to look at; but the best cocktail of the night was awarded to Cain for creating the S-C-O-G-U-I (though you’ll have to find out the secret ingredients from him!)

Well done to all the Scouts and Guides for participating, it was a long night for some, but everyone managed to complete the route before daylight! (I’m kidding, they all completed it and were in bed before 2am)

Hopefully the SCOGUI members that helped out at Night Hike have now recovered from being worn out and sleep deprived over the weekend! Thank you all so much for helping out, but the biggest thanks go to James Waterworth for organising and running the event this year!

A two course meal followed by the awards and some home grown Loughborough entertainment was enjoyed at the Athena in Leicester. Although SCOGUI didn’t win any awards this year, we were nominated for the community award and had a lovely evening whilst being all dressed up. Congratulations to all the societies who won awards, they were all very much deserved!

The torch has now been passed over on the website! With a new committee, and our wonderful publicity officer Vicki leaving, it is time for me to take over all things publicity! (Gulp!) So maybe I should introduce myself …

I’m KJ, first year materials engineer AND your new SCOGUI publicity officer! I am going to keep up with the regular blog posts, updating the website, Facebook updates, tweets and I’ll sort SCOGUI stash later in the year. I might change the website entirely, I haven’t made up my mind on that yet, and if I do I hopefully will not crash it!

In the more immediate I shall be looking to get all of the new committee members on to the page, so beware of me taking mug shots! (I already have a lovely one of Cainington Cain, our new chair!)

Time to run to a lecture!
